How to Link PAN with EPF Account Online
- The PAN KYC will be on pending until it is approved by the Employer.
- If PAN KYC is not approved within 60 days from the Seeded On date onwards, then the PAN KYC will be invalid or it will be rejected.
- The PAN KYC can be done either by an Employer or PF Member.

1. How can I update my PAN card details in EPF Account?
1) Sign in Unified Member Portal
2) Go to Manage and click on KYC
3) Add KYC by Clicking on the PAN option.
3) Edit or Leave Name as it is and enter your PAN Number
4) Click on Save Button.
2. What happens if my PAN card is not linked with my EPF Account?
If the employee is trying to withdraw his/her pf balance of more than or equal to ₹50,000 with a total service count of lesser than 5 years. A TDS would be deducted of 34.08% with no PAN being linked with the EPF account.
3. How to check if my PAN is linked to my EPF UAN Account?
1) Sign in Unified Member Portal
2) Go to Manage and click on KYC
3) Under Currently Active KYC see the list of all the KYC documents approved along with your PAN.
4. Can I link my PAN with my UAN account online without the approval of the Employer?
No. To link your PAN with the EPF account or UAN Account online, the employer needs to digitally approve your submitted PAN KYC details in the Unified Member Portal.
5. Is a PAN KYC mandatory for PF withdrawal?
No. But it would be a wise decision in the future if it is linked with your EPF account to save some TDS deduction on your EPF Withdrawals.
Suppose if you want to make a PF withdrawal of less than ₹50,000, then you might not require PAN to be linked with your EPF account.
But if you want to withdraw a PF amount of more than or equal to ₹50,000, then it is mandatory to link PAN with your EPF account to save some TDS deductions.
6. What is the use if my PAN card is linked with my EPF account?
If the employee is trying to withdraw his/her pf balance of more than or equal to ₹50,000 with a total service count of lesser than 5 years. A TDS would be deducted at 10% with PAN being linked with the EPF account.
7. What happens if there is a name mismatch in the EPF account and PAN Card?
If you are trying to link your PAN with your EPF Account Online, during the Add PAN KYC process, make sure your name matches the same name as on the PAN Card. If not you can edit it online and change it to your exact name as per your PAN card records.
But once you enter your PAN details and click on the Save button in the Unified Member Portal. If there is a mismatch in your name of both PAN card and EPF account. Then your PAN KYC will be rejected and you not be able to link your PAN Card with EPF Account Online. So make sure there is no mismatch in the name both in PAN Card as well as in EPF Account.
8. What is the most common reason for the failure of linking PAN with the EPF Account during verification?
The most common mistake which leads to the failure of linking PAN with the EPF Account during the verification process would be the mismatch of name in PAN Card and in an EPF Account.
